The great Christmas weekend quilt

Believe it or not, this quilt was whipped up in one weekend.  Hehe, ok, not quite... I'll explain.

My sister is a teacher, and you may or not know that teachers often get given things for their class to use for craft activities etc.  One of her kids mum dropped off a box of stuff and said that she had a heap of quilt squares in the box.  She thought they may be able to be used for a craft project, however she did say that she would prefer if they were not cut up for scraps because they had obviously taken some time to do.

They stayed in the classroom all year, but at the end of the year when she was packing up her room she came across them and rescued them from being thrown out.  They hung around our house for a about a year until my amazingly talented Aunty came to stay one Christmas.  Somehow the squares ended up coming out and we spent hours cutting strips of fabric and sewing the batting on to them.  As a group/joint effort it was lots of fun, and the end result... well you can see, it's a wonderful quilt.

I have to admit though, it's not mine, and I only had a small hand in it.  I still think it's worth a mention here because it was a great family activity at Christmas.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.
