Just back from the 'Wicked' west

Last night I got back late from Perth WA.  I went over with my sister and her family to introduce little Ethan to his grandad.  There were quite a few lovely surprises while we were over there, including going to see Wicked which I missed out on seeing when it was in Sydney or Melbourne.

On Friday night, when we arrived at my cousin's place, there was a copy of the Wicked program on their coffee table.  Before that night was through, we already had tickets to the Saturday night show.  It was super exciting - especially since I didn't even know the show was in Perth - it really all just fell into place and it's actually really nice doing something spur of the moment like that.

Let me say, the show was spectacular.  For those who don't know, it is the story of Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West from the well known story - The Wizard of Oz.  It also gives you an insight into how the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow come to be.  If you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz, I would definitely recommend watching it - it really compliments the original film, in fact, I think it makes it better.

We had two extremely talented actresses playing Elphaba and Glinda - they were Jemma Rix and Lucy Durack.  It was also good to see Maggie Kirkpatrick and Bert Newton as Madam Morrible and the Wizard of Oz.

I also had a little revelation while I was watching, that you don't always know what someone's been through, and there are possibly a lot of other 'evil or bad' characters in stories or even real life that have had experiences and events that have made them appear to be bad.  I don't think I'm explaining it very well, but they just may not be what they seem.
The Burswood casino complex was lit up with green lights - I am assuming for Wicked!!!
Anyway, it was a thoroughly enjoyable night, and also good to have a date with my sister.  I'll have to share more of the trip later.
