Wills and Kate tie the knot!

This photo was on the front page of the newspaper that sits near my desk at work.  All day yesterday I walked past it and got more and more excited about the events to come!
Last night was awesome!  I loved every moment of their big day.  We had an amazingly delicious dinner of ribs and creamed potato bake and garlic bread.  Put the kids to bed then went out to watch a surprisingly simple yet elegant wedding.  I guess I say simple because it wasn't too over the top for a Royal Wedding, but yet it didn't disappoint in any way.

Wedding fever

I seem to be getting bagged out about tomorrows Royal Wedding.  I think the main reasons why I am excited is:
  1. They are two people who genuinely seem to love each other and want to be together
  2. I find it refreshing for me to have half the news filled with a "good news" story instead of the usual doom, gloom and sometimes down right disturbing stories
  3. I've always been a bit of a monarchist
  4. Perhaps I am turning into a romantic?!? and
  5. I'm looking forward to a lovely night of fun, food and giggles with my girls

Girl time

Probably not the best shot of the picture (the pot plant has taken over a little), but this is one of my most favourite pictures.  My sister and I spotted it when we were up at Nan's soon after our first trip to Noosa Qld.  We had been on a wonderful relaxing trip with some very close long time friends and when we saw this Kelly Lane picture we both instantly saw the two of us (one blond, one brunette although both a LOT skinnier than we are) sitting at the beach enjoying a drink and each others conversation - girl time!

Welcome little Kaylee Jayde

My cousin's second baby arrived last Tuesday.  I finished this cross stitch exactly 7 days ago (yes, the day she was born).  It's taken me this long to download the photos from my camera to post this!!

I won a prize!!

I've had a subscription for Handmade magazine on and off for many years now.  There aren't usually that many competitions in them, but there was one for some [make it], products and as I am a known cross stitch addict, I couldn't help but send in an entry.  I think I had to write something in 25 words or less and mail it in.  So for the cost of a 60c stamp I won all of the above!

Funny Money and a new favourite place!

Photo from
I had an absolutely wonderful day today with the lovely ladies.  As part of my year for appreciation of the arts, for part of her birthday pressie, I decided to buy Mum a ticket to a show at The Q - which is the performing arts centre in Queanbeyan.

An experiment for the kids..... and Happy Birthday Mum!!

Kids are great for experimenting for, cause they think even the most simple and imperfect things are pretty cool.  I was inspired to make these picture holders when I saw something similar in Spotlight.  They were pretty expensive for a piece of wood and some pegs, so I thought I would give it a go to make something similar and personalise them at the same time!

I went straight around to the wooden craft and found some 40cm long pieces of decorative wood.

Another new little person joins the world!!!!

Things have been really crazy around here.  We went up to the coast again this weekend.  This time it was to introduce little Ethan to the rest of the family who hadn't met him yet.  It's also a week away from mum's birthday and family is really important to her, so we wanted to have a cake to celebrate with her.

Anyway, it was go go go the whole time.  I've been really looking forward to doing a post on this little birth sampler cross stitch I made some lovely friends over in the USA.  I was thrilled to get the message that they had received it on the weekend as I didn't want to post this until I was sure it had gotten there in one piece.

A few more cards....

I had a wonderful weekend last week.  On Friday I had a very productive day.  I did a stack of stuff with my family history research - I really get lost in that stuff.  Then I met my sister, niece and nephew and we caught up with another friend and her little girl at the National Science and Technology Centre - Questacon.  I haven't been for years, but it was a lot of fun.  I especially was interested in the earth stuff, and with all these natural disasters happening so regularly, I had been wanting to go back and try out the earthquake simulator.
